Relaxation of Dense, Reacting Two-Temperature-Plasmas

چکیده
The driver energy in many dense plasma experiments is almost exclusively coupled into one species and, thus, a two-temperature plasma is created after a short relaxation. Beam particles or field ionization can also create a nonequilibrium charge state distribution. Although ionization kinetics and temperature equilibration usually occur on separated time scales (for solid density ≈ 100 fs and ≈ 10 ps, respectively), they do influence each other. This coupled relaxation is investigated here for nonideal plasmas. In contrast to Ref. [1], where kinetic equations are used, we directly start from the well-known internal energy density for weakly nonideal systems

Correlation effects on the temperature-relaxation rates in dense plasmas.
We present a model for the rate of temperature relaxation between electrons and ions in plasmas. The model includes self-consistently the effects of particle screening, electron degeneracy, and correlations between electrons and ions. We successfully validate the model over a wide range of plasma coupling against molecular-dynamics simulations of classical plasmas of like-charged electrons and ...
متن کاملKinetic approach to temperature relaxation in dense plasmas
The relaxation of nonideal two-temperature plasmas is investigated with a kinetic approach. First the energy transfer between the electrons and ions is described using different approximations: the energy transfer through classical collisions (Landau-Spitzer approach) is reviewed; quantum diffraction and strong collisions are included by applying the quantum Boltzmann equation; the influence of...

A first principles approach to the equation of state ~EOS! and the transport properties of an interacting mixture of electrons, ions, and neutrals in thermodynamic equilibrium was presented recently in Phys. Rev. E 52, 5352 ~1995!. However, many dynamically produced plasmas have an electron temperature Te different from the ion temperature Ti . The study of these nonequilibrium ~non-eq.! system...
متن کاملDynamic structure factors of a dense mixture.
We compute the dynamic structure factors of a dense binary liquid mixture. These describe dynamics on molecular length scales, where structural relaxation is important. We find that the presence of a few large particles in a dense fluid of small particles slows down the dynamics considerably. We also observe a deep narrowing of the spectrum for a disordered mixture composed of a nearly equal pa...
متن کاملPair-distribution functions of two-temperature two-mass systems: comparison of molecular dynamics, classical-map hypernetted chain, quantum Monte Carlo, and Kohn-Sham calculations for dense hydrogen.
Two-temperature, two-mass quasiequilibrium plasmas may occur in electron-ion plasmas, nuclear-matter, as well as in electron-hole condensed-matter systems. Dense two-temperature hydrogen plasmas straddle the difficult partially degenerate regime of electron densities and temperatures which are important in astrophysics, in inertial-confinement fusion research, and other areas of warm dense-matt...
